FBI Has ‘Promising Lead’ on D. B. Cooper

Could the FBI follow up the Whitey Bulger arrest with a breakthrough on the case of D. B. Cooper? The agency has a “promising lead” on the famous 1971 case, in which a man—whom the media would begin calling “D. B. Cooper”—hijacked a plane, stole $200,000, and parachuted to safety. According to the Seattle Times, a person has provided the FBI with an item that may have fingerprints to be compared with those of the suspect found on the airplane. An FBI spokeswoman says it’s “the most promising lead we have right now,” but that the case is “not on the brink of solution.” The spokeswoman had told The Telegraph that “the suspect is not a name that's come up before."
