FBI: D. B. Cooper Suspect Long Dead

The FBI may have a “promising lead” on the famous D. B. Cooper case, but don’t expect an arrest: The new suspect died 10 years ago from natural causes, according to a bureau spokesman. He also reported injuries from what he said was an auto accident in 1971—the same year the man known as D.B. Cooper hijacked an airplane, stole $200,000, and parachuted to safety. The FBI added that a guitar strap belonging to the man failed to produce fingerprints for comparison with those from the airplane; however, the agency is working with the suspect’s family to obtain new prints.
