CHARITABLE

Father John Misty to Donate NC Proceeds

Singer Father John Misty isn't joining the list of musicians boycotting performances in North Carolina over the recently passed anti-LGBT bathroom bill, but he is planning to donate all the proceeds from his Charlotte show to an LGBT group. The former Fleet Foxes drummer, whose real name is Josh Tillman, told Rolling Stone the bill is obviously bullsh*t," but playing for North Carolina fans is not an endorsement of the measure. The bill requires transgender people use bathrooms and changing rooms based on the gender on their birth certificate. Father John Misty added he also plays in "states that have oppressive drug laws designed to imprison the disenfranchised, rig elections, deny women their dignity, defend the reckless and insane practice of selling guns..." Proceeds from his show will go to Time Out Youth, an LGBT support center in the city. Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Ringo Starr recently cancelled shows in the state in protest of the bill.
