This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, or as Facebook and Skype call it, a "strategic unified communications and collaboration partnership." Facebook, in its ongoing effort to become the primary communications and networking platform of its users, is preparing to integrate with the Web-telephone company Skype. The union will reportedly allow users to SMS and call Facebook friends from Skype and video chat using Facebook in Skype. The new features will be available in Skype's new version, which is expected to finish beta-testing in a few weeks. Both companies have been ramping up integrations with other companies—Facebook with Yahoo and Microsoft and Skype with Avaya, a company that makes office phones.
