Expendables Tops Eat Pray Love

The estranged Roberts siblings are duking it out at the box office this weekend, as Julia’s starring vehicle Eat Pray Love goes head-to-head with action flick The Expendables, which features Eric as an ex-CIA agent. Despite Eat Pray Love’s massive publicity kick, The Expendables is set to take the weekend, pulling in $13.5 million on Friday compared to EPL’s $9 million. Meanwhile, even with a smart viral marketing campaign, and built-in fanbases of both Michael Cera and the comic book it was based on, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World appears to be a dud, making $4.7 million on Friday. Further down the list, Toy Story 3 set a record for the highest-grossing animated movie of all time. Since its opening June 18, the film has grossed more than $920 million, beating the former record-holder, Shrek 2.
