Ex-NY Gov. to Testify in Sex Trial

Former New York governor George Pataki will testify Tuesday in a civil trial in which sex offenders are suing him for the state’s involuntary institutionalization of them when they were released from jail. More than 100 convicted sex offenders were held for evaluations at psychiatric facilities after their prison terms were finished, starting around October 2005. The program was discontinued a year later when a court ruled the program was wrongly confining the sex offenders. Tuesday’s testimony comes after six convicted sex offenders sued Pataki and the state.
