An ex-CIA agent was convicted Monday on nine counts of leaking classified information about an operation that provides faulty nuclear plans to Iran. Jeffrey Sterling gave New York Times reporter James Risen material that the U.S. government said risked lives and undercut plans to deter Iranian nuclear development. The mission was described in State of War, Risen’s 2006 book. Prosecutors attempted to put the journalist on the stand, but after he pledged not to reveal sources, they decided against it. Sterling won’t be sentenced until April.
