Eric Reid Kneels During Anthem in First Game With Panthers
BACK WITH A VENGEANCE
Eric Reid began his first game as a Carolina Panther on Sunday by kneeling during the national anthem. The game against the New York Giants was Reid’s first in the NFL since he played with the San Francisco 49ers, where he and Colin Kaepernick first knelt together during the anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Reid had been unsigned since December 2017 until Sept. 27 of this year, when he signed a one-year contract with the Panthers. Both he and Kaepernick have filed a grievance against the NFL alleging that the league colluded to keep them from getting signed. Kaepernick praised Reid on Sunday for his “unwavering” conviction in continuing the protest.
