Egypt Aids Libyan Rebels

Regimes come and go, but old regional rivalries stay strong. Sources say that the interim Egyptian government, brought to power by protests that ended Hosni Mubarak’s three-decade reign, is helping rebels trying to bring down Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, with whom Egypt has long feuded. The aid reportedly includes weapons and training, and armed volunteers—along with members of the Egyptian special forces—are being allowed to cross the border. Egyptian officials are said to be worried about a refugee crisis or the rise of a radical Islamist government in Tripoli if Gaddafi falls.
