'DWTS' Rules Monday Ratings

Monday night, which kicked off a week of fall television premieres, was a mixed bag ratings-wise. ABC was the night’s top winner among the Big Four networks, with an overall average of about 17.725 million viewers. The network's Dancing With the Stars averaged 20.14 million viewers ( was it the Palin effect?) for its first hour and its ratings only improved into the second hour. NBC's heavily promo-ed The Event did well with 11.19 million viewers. Unfortunately for Fox, the one-hour drama Lone Star, an early critical favorite, only grabbed around 4.06 million viewers, many of whom dropped off after the first half hour.
