Drones Kill 18 in Pakistan

A pair of drone strikes killed 18 militants with ties to al Qaeda in Pakistan Saturday, U.S. intelligence officials said. The attacks are part of an escalating drone campaign in Pakistan that the U.S. says is necessary to win the war in Afghanistan. Last month, there were 21 drone strikes in Pakistan’s northwest, the most in a month so far. The strikes are controversial, and this week Pakistan blocked NATO from sending non-lethal supplies into Afghanistan in retaliation for a helicopter strike in its territory.
