Alabama Sen.-elect Doug Jones on Sunday said it’s time to “move on” from sexual-misconduct claims against President Trump, breaking with members of his own party. “Those allegations were made before the election, and so people had an opportunity to judge before that election,” Jones said on CNN, echoing earlier statements made by the White House. “We need to move on and not get distracted by those issues. Let’s get on with the real issues that are facing the people of this country right now,” he said. Several women who accused Trump of sexual misconduct during his campaign demanded a congressional investigation last week. Some Democratic lawmakers have taken the allegations seriously and called on the president to resign. Jones himself had urged Sen. Al Franken to resign this month over similar allegations.
