The Disney Channel introduced its first gay characters, who made their appearance in an episode of the show Good Luck Charlie. In the episode called "Down a Tree," the show's main character, Charlie, has a playdate with a friend who has two moms. When TV Guide first reported the storyline last year, Disney said that the episode had been written "under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors." The actress Desi Lydic, who played one of the moms in the same-sex relationship, tweeted, "I'm so proud to be a part of that episode! Go Disney! #equality."
