DHS Runs Out Of Money

The House of Representatives failed to pass temporary funding for the Department of Homeland Security on Friday, ensuring 90 percent of its operations will cease at midnight. Led by Republicans, the final vote was 224-203 against. The extension would have allowed three more weeks to fund the department in the face of Republican efforts to ransom DHS in exchange for reversing President Obama’s executive order to halt deportation of millions of immigrants.
