Dexter Filkins Joins The New Yorker

The New Yorker has successfully wooed Dexter Filkins away from The New York Times. After months of negotiations, the author of The Forever War announced he is moving to The New Yorker, where he will continue writing about the Middle East as well as other regions. The Times didn’t let him go easy: Two months ago executive editor Bill Keller and foreign editor Susan Chira went to Afghanistan to try to convince Filkins in person to stay at the paper. David Remnick says he’s “over the moon.”
