Dennis Hopper's Eclectic Art on Display

As Dennis Hopper continues a battle with prostate cancer, Los Angeles museum-goers will have a chance to reflect on his second career as an artist in Art Is Life, the first new exhibition at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art since Jeffrey Deitch took over as the museum’s director. “We’re rushing this exhibition because Dennis is ailing,” Deitch said. “I want to try to explain why he’s important for a new generation.” Hopper’s friend Julian Schnabel is curating the show, which will cover Hopper’s wide-ranging career in art ranging, from Abstract Expressionism to Pop art to sculpture.
