Democrat Wins Oregon Gov. Race

Here we go again: Oregon Democrat John Kitzhaber was declared the newest governor of Oregon, seven years after he finished his second term. Kitzhaber becomes the state’s first person to win three terms as governor, though the constitution prevents three consecutive terms. With a last-minute push from President Barack Obama, Kitzhaber narrowly defeated Chris Dudley, a former NBA player. Even with the election over, Kitzhaber faces serious challenges: The Legislature is split evenly between the two parties and the outgoing governor has described the budget as going off a cliff.
