Dem Rep. Max Rose: GOP ‘Can’t Be Chickensh*t in the Face of Anti-Semitism Either’

Rep. Max Rose (D-NY) told reporters it’s time to move on from the controversy stemming from Rep. Ilhan Omar’s tweets on Israel, and said Republicans can’t be “chickenshit in the face of anti-Semitism either.” “[Omar] wants to see a great country and I look forward to working with her,” he said Monday. “She acknowledged that, and it’s time that she moved on, okay folks? It’s time that we move on.” Rose—who first called out Omar’s tweets, which were condemned by House Democrats on Monday for their use of “anti-Semitic tropes”—pointed to Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) own anti-Semitic controversy, when he reportedly posted and deleted a tweet that claimed Michael Bloomberg, George Soros, and Tom Steyer were attempting to “buy” the 2018 midterm elections.

“When Kevin McCarthy said that it was Bloomberg, and then it was Soros, and it was Steyer pulling the strings behind the scenes—none of you camped out,” Rose told reporters. “And their caucus stayed united and had his back, and now you called him out on that... I just want you all to acknowledge that there’s some hypocrisy going on there, too.” Omar apologized Monday after posting a series of tweets alleging a pro-Israel lobbying group was paying politicians to take pro-Israel stances and claiming she was being punished for criticizing Israel.
