Death Toll in Mexico Earthquake Nearly 100

The death toll in last week’s 8.1-magnitude earthquake in Mexico has tripled the initial estimate, rising to 96 people on Monday. More victims were confirmed this week in Oaxaca and Chiapas, while residents tried to repair their shattered homes with the help of shovel-wielding soldiers and police officers. Mexico's Foreign Relations Department has also said it had to withdraw its aid offer to Houston after being hit by both the earthquake and Hurricane Katia.
