Cyper Snooping Program Has Global Scope

Americans were disturbed to hear this week about the government's not-so-secret-anymore program of cyberspying. But don't forget that the Internet has a global scope, and many possible victims have far bigger worries than the NSA figuring out whether they prefer Maru or Grumpy Cat. Activists in conflict zones like Syria have been especially concerned. One Syrian antigovernment activist who uses Skype to communicate with other rebels said: "Eighty percent of our secrets were already known to the Americans. Now, all of our secrets are disclosed." Maybe they should consider switching to Facebook? The social network denies cooperation in the program.
