The alleged Craigslist killer Philip Markoff wrote his former fiancée’s name in blood on his jail cell wall before killing himself. He committed suicide one year and a day after they were to have wed. Markoff scrawled “Megan” and, bizarrely, “pocket” in his blood, and officials don’t know the significance of the latter word. Details of Markoff’s suicide have trickled out—the former medical student sharpened a small piece of metal and used it to make incisions in the arteries that would maximize blood loss in his neck, legs, and wrist. He stuffed toilet paper down his throat and covered his head with a clear plastic bag, then covered himself with a blanket. Guards reportedly "pulled the cover back, and it was a bloodbath." Markoff was scheduled to stand trial in March for killing a New York massage therapist he contacted through Craigslist.
