‘CR Fashion Book’ Phones Home with ‘E.T.’-Inspired Fourth Issue
For the next installment of Carine Roitfeld’s namesake magazine, Lindsey Wixson channels Drew Barrymore’s character in ‘E.T.’ for an issue that’s all about fairy tales.
“Many people in fashion live lives worthy of fairy tales,” Carine Roitfeld says of the upcoming issue of her namesake magazine, CR Fashion Book. That’s why it is no surprise that the world’s favorite gap-toothed model, Lindsey Wixson, is the next it-girl to grace the cover of the fourth issue.
Wixson’s unique look, with her bee-stung lips and sexy pout, thrust her into the spotlight at the age of 15, when she appeared in Vogue Italia for her first modeling job. Since then, she has booked campaigns for the likes of Versace, Miu Miu, Jill Stuart, and Alexander McQueen.
The upcoming CR Fashion Book issue revolves around the theme “fairy tales” with Wixson’s editorial drawing its inspiration from the 1982 cult classic film E.T. The inside images, shot by Sebastian Faena, show Wixson, alongside model Magda Laguinge, in what appears to be a grown-up version of Drew Barrymore’s character. Her pigtails are paired with leg warmers and printed coats by Miu Miu, Prada, Rodarte, and Marc Jacobs.
“It’s not a traditional fairy tale, but my favorite fantasy story,” Roitfeld wrote about E.T. “It’s interesting that the greatest fairy tales contain some element of loss and separation … They teach us to dream. They carry us to the end and back.”
On stands February 25, the fourth issue also includes an appearance by up-and-coming model, Gigi Hadid, shot by Bruce Weber, and the usual ream of very sexy content.
