Confederates Held ‘Secession Day’ at Roy Moore’s Foundation

Confederate activists held “Secession Day” events at Roy Moore’s foundation two years in a row, according to a report. CNN revealed on Wednesday that the controversial Alabama GOP Senate nominee’s Foundation for Moral Law hosted the events that were meant to commemorate the state’s secession from the United States in 1861 ahead of the Civil War. Rich Hobson, the former executive director for the foundation who now runs Moore’s Senate campaign, said in 2010 that the foundation was not involved and that Moore was unaware of it. Individuals such as Franklin Sanders from the League of the South, as well as Rev. Chuck Baldwin, who believes that the south on was the “right” side of the war, spoke at the events.
