Comedian Andy Gross allegedly sexually harassed a female college student while performing at Purdue University's orientation, according to USA Today. Gross, a well-known illusionist and ventriloquist, allegedly brought the student on stage and “made her stand closer and closer to him and made a joke about that giving him a erection and making his pants seem to say ‘let me out,’ referring to his genitals,” one onlooker said. “I was pretty angry and just in shock that this seemingly very famous person was treating women like this at a school, and he continue to make jokes at the expense of women... he made a Matt Lauer joke,” she added. “It was just very distasteful, and once he started doing that, people in the audience started to get up. He just kept making sexual jokes even as the crowd was leaving.” The student added that after Gross finished his performance, a university representative denounced it, telling students that Gross did not represent the school’s values. The school did the same in a statement, writing: “We will not work with this comedian again and are proud of our students who are standing up and voicing their concerns about the performance.” Gross has not yet addressed the incident or responded to USA Today’s request for comment.
