Coach Who Allegedly Ordered Hit Resigns

Mack Breed, the John Jay High School assistant coach who allegedly asked two players to tackle a referee in the middle of a football game in Texas this month, resigned Thursday. ESPN reported a letter signed by the San Antonio principal said Breed told him he asked the two players to tackle the ref in the Sept. 4 game. Breed said the referee had used racial slurs and was making bad calls.
