CIA Appoints New Top Spy Chief

The CIA has chosen a new spy chief, an undercover veteran known within the agency as “Spider,” who played a key role in developing personal relationships with Afghan leaders after the U.S. invaded the country. The agent’s new role will be director of the National Clandestine Service. Spider, a former Marine, once survived an accidential 2001 U.S. bombing in Afghanistan while meeting with Hamid Karzai (and is credited with saving the future Afghan president's life).
