A Christian couple was killed by a mob in Pakistan for allegedly defiling a Quran. Police said the mob in the village of Kot Radha Kishan beat the couple to death and then burnt their bodies at a brick kiln where they worked. The married couple was only identified by their first names, Shama and Shehzad, but multiple officers confirmed the incident. Punjab Chief Minister Shabbaz Sharif has ordered the investigation into the killings to be fast-tracked and increased security in the Christian neighborhood. Christians have found themselves in a perilous position in largely Muslim Pakistan. The country recently upheld the death penalty for a blashphemy conviction against a Christian woman who argued with a muslim woman.
