China Imposes Tariffs on 120+ U.S. Imports

China announced Sunday that it would roll out tariffs against products from the United States in retaliation against President Trump’s newly imposed tariffs on Chinese products, the Associated Press reported. The tariffs on pork and scrap aluminum will be raised to 25 percent, and 15 percent on 120 other imported products—including almonds, apples, and berries. The new tariffs reportedly go into effect Monday. The White House did not respond to an AP request for comment. The new Chinese tariffs come after Trump hiked steel and aluminum tariffs and also put penalties on almost $50 billion worth of Chinese imports. U.S. farmers last year shipped $20 billion in goods to China, which is the third-largest buyer of U.S. pork.
