China Meat Scare Hits Starbucks

It’s not just fast-food joints—your coffee shop isn’t safe either. China’s investigation of a meat supplier called Husi Food Co. spread to Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Burger King, after country’s FDA sealed factories for inspection on charges of selling expired beef and chicken on Monday. The scandal also hit Japan, where McDonald’s said 20 percent of its meat for chicken nuggets came from the company. A Chinese broadcaster has accused Husi of repackaging expired meat with new dates, a report which Husi said it was “appalled by.”
