Going beyond housewives, designers, and chefs, Bravo is now shining its reality light on the art world with Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, which will be hosted by China Chow. With the help of Sarah Jessica Parker and her production company Pretty Matches, the show will feature 14 aspiring artists vying for their own show at a national museum as well as a cash prize. Chow will host the series alongside auctioneer Simon de Pury while New York Gallery owner Bill Powers, New York magazine art critic Jerry Saltz, and Salon 94 curator and owner Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn will serve as the judges’ panel. “Art is one of the most authentic ways for a person to express themselves,” said Chow. “Clothing has to be functional, food has to taste good—but art is the purest form of expression, existing without set boundaries.” The show’s contestants will have the opportunity to express themselves through a variety of media—painting, sculpture, photography, collage and industrial design—while Chow and the other art-world luminaries will assess their works based on mastery and impact.
