Chavez' Olive Branch

It seems President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is taking a one-man "good cop, bad cop" approach to dealing with the new Obama administration. While just last month Chavez said Obama had "the same stench" as his predecessor, whom he famously called "the devil" in 2006, the Venezuelan leader has since taken a more conciliatory tone. Yesterday he said he would engage in direct talks with Obama to repair his country's frayed relations with the United States. “Any day is propitious for talking with President Barack Obama,” he told reporters.
