Chattanooga Shooter From Abusive Home

Divorce papers show that Chattanooga shooter Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez came from an abusive home. The papers, filed by his mother in 2009 and withdrawn 22 days later, claim that Abdulazeez’s father frequently beat and sexually assaulted her, even when their children were at home. The complaint also alleges that Youssef Abdulazeez hit his children, kept control of finances, and threatened to take a second wife “as permitted under certain circumstances under Islamic law.” The issue was resolved after Youssef agreed to a postnuptial agreement, a $200 monthly stipend, and to give his wife $100,000 in the case of a divorce.
