The youngest follower of convicted murderer Charles Manson’s cult was granted parole in California on Wednesday. Leslie Van Houten, 68, appeared before the parole board for the 21st time, and her fate now rests with Gov. Jerry Brown, who must decide within 120 days whether to uphold the parole board’s decision. Brown scrapped Van Houten’s parole last year after it was granted. Van Houten first joined Manson’s cult in 1969 when she was 19 years old.
