CBS Names Veteran Media Exec Richard Parsons as New Interim Chairman
CBS has chosen Richard Parsons, the former CEO of Time Warner, to serve as interim chairman following the ouster of longtime CEO Leslie Moonves this month. Parsons had joined the board of CBS in early September amid the company’s internal investigation of sexual-misconduct claims against Moonves. Moonves stepped down after 12 women accused him of sexual abuse ranging from unwanted advances to coerced oral sex and physical violence. Parsons, now tasked with leading the company as it seeks to reshape itself, was praised for his “deep industry knowledge and unmatched corporate and board experience” by Candace Beinecke, the committee’s chairwoman. Two other CBS board members, Bruce Gordon and William Cohen, also announced Tuesday that they will be stepping down, leaving the board with 11 members.
