CBO: GOP’s Repeal-Only Plan Leaves 32 Million More Uninsured
Legislation that dismantles Obamacare without providing for an immediate replacement would leave 32 additional Americans without insurance over a period of 10 years, the Congressional Budget Office said in a report issued Wednesday. The bill, passed by the House and Senate in 2015 but vetoed by then-President Obama, would also cause premiums to double over a decade. The CBO said the legislation would reduce the federal deficit by $473 billion. Senate Republicans have not yet decided whether to vote on the clean repeal legislation, or a bill that would repeal and replace the 2010 law simultaneously.
