Cameron: Not Enough Women in Cabinet

Thanks for cluing in now. British Prime Minister David Cameron admitted on Monday that he had not appointed enough women to his cabinet—and said his wife often encourages him to promote women. “My wife likes to say that if you don’t have women in 50 percent of top positions, you are not missing out on 50 percent of the talent, you are missing out on more than 50 percent of the talent, and I think she’s right,” said Cameron, who was speaking in Mumbai for a Unilever conference. Before the last election, Cameron promised to make one third of his cabinet women—a promise he has failed to deliver: only four full-time members are women.
