CA Governor Acts on Gas-Price Surge

California Governor Jerry Brown took emergency action Sunday as gas prices in the Golden State soared. The California Air Resources board has been ordered to allow refineries to make a production switch that could increase output by between 8 and 10 percent. The move came as California drivers saw red at the pump, with drivers in San Francisco paying as much as $4.73 per gallon of regular on Sunday. The production switch would allow the refineries to begin making winter-blend gas four weeks earlier than usual.
