REVIEW

By Train Across America.

In this era of debt and long hours, it’s easy to forget about America’s sweeping landscapes and open skies. But Peter Millar’s new book, All Gone to Look For America (an homage to that Paul Simon song), chronicles the writer’s 10,000-mile journey around the country by train. According to a Telegraph review, the book is liberating and romantic, if not deep. It tells a story of America, trains, and lots and lots of beer. “Millar’s is the kind of journey a lot of mortgage-shackled, middle-aged men dream of: solitary, mildly liberating, comfortable but not too comfortable, adventurous but safely so.”
