Bush Presidents: America Must Reject ‘Racial Bigotry, Anti-Semitism and Hatred’

Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush said Wednesday in a joint statement that Americans “must always reject racial bigotry, anti-Semitism and hatred in all forms.” The former Republican presidents said that they are praying for Charlottesville and thinking about Thomas Jefferson, “the city's most prominent citizen,” who wrote in the Declaration of Independence, “We are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights.” The comments comes a day after President Trump reignited outrage after doubling down on his earlier statement that “both sides” are to blame for the violence at last weekend's white supremacist rally.
