The United Kingdom will reopen its embassy in Iran this weekend, four years after it closed following a mob attack. The U.K. planned to reopen two years ago, but repairing damage done by fleeing diplomats destroying communications equipment was delayed by bureaucracy: Iran limits diplomatic bags by weight, to 15 kilograms. Communications hardware has not yet been fully restored. British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond will be there for the opening, in the first visit to Iran by a foreign secretary in 14 years. At the same time, Iran will reopen its embassy in London.
