A Scottish man is reportedly facing three years behind bars in Dubai for accidentally touching a man’s hip in a bar. Representatives for the man, Jamie Harron, told British media he’d been trying not to “bump and spill drinks” when he touched another bar patron, but Dubai authorities arrested him for public indecency and drinking alcohol. Harron has reportedly already been stuck in Dubai for three months to fight the charges, having lost his job and spent tens of thousands in legal fees. The 27-year-old electrician had his passport confiscated after being released on bail, though he was hit with another 30 days of imprisonment this week for failing to show for a court hearing he said neither he nor his lawyer were informed of. A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed the arrest of a British man in Dubai but did not disclose further details, saying only “consular assistance” was being provided.
