Bridgegate Mastermind Turned Top Witness, Gets No Jail Time

David Wildstein, who admitted to his role in orchestrating the scandalous George Washington Bridge lane closures, was sentenced Wednesday to three years probation with no jail time. Wildstein must also complete 500 hours of community service and pay a $14,000 restitution and $10,000 fine. He claimed responsibility for planning to shut down several lanes of traffic on the New York-New Jersey bridge (a scandal infamously known as “Bridgegate”) in a scheme to punish a local mayor who did not support Chris Christie, and cooperated with federal prosecutors in their convictions of other conspirators—leading to feds requesting no jail time for Wildstein.
