Richard Linklater’s Boyhood was one of the most talked-about films of 2014 and, as of Thursday, earned six Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Director. The film was shot over a 12-year period, the first time such a long-term project was applied to a feature film.
But when you look at the medium of television, it seems a little less novel. Spoofing Boyhood’s trailer—and featuring the film’s unofficial theme song, Family of the Year’s “Hero”—Boyhood Meets World reminds us that from 1993 to 2000, we watched Ben Savage on ABC’s Boy Meets World. Your move, Linklater.
