We already knew Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was on a terrorism watch list, but it turns out his mom was too. Zubeidat Tsarnaeva is one of more than 745,000 people on the CIA’s terrorism database. The two were added to the list back in the fall of 2011, when the Russian government requested that the CIA look into whether they were Islamist extremists. The FBI had already investigated the mother and son six months earlier at Russia’s insistence and found no signs that either was linked to terrorism. Zubeidat’s reaction to the suggestion that she would be listed in a U.S. terror database was pretty much the same as her reaction to the news that her children likely plotted and carried out the Boston Marathon bombings. “It’s all lies and hypocrisy,” she told the AP.
