Former U.S. Senator Bob Dole, 87, was readmitted to Walter Reed hospital on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Dole Institute of Politics in Lawrence, Kansas, said, but has already been released. No details about his condition were available. Dole spent 10 months at Walter Reed last year, for repeated bouts of pneumonia. The former senator from Kansas served a long and high-profile career in politics, after first getting elected to Congress in 1960 and going on to be Gerald Ford’s running mate in 1976 and the Republican nominee for president in 1996.
