Bill Kristol’s ‘Candidate’ David French Speaks Out
The candidate that neoconservative pundit Bill Kristol has reportedly handpicked to mount an “independent” third-party run against Donald Trump spoke out about his chances for the presidency. “All the normal political rules apply. The conventional wisdom has been right. An underdog can’t win. Right?” David French coyly tweeted Wednesday morning. Despite having substantially limited name-recognition, the National Review staff writer is said to be mulling a presidential run that would require an extraordinary amount of support, resources, and cash over the next five months. “I’m incredibly humbled by and grateful for the many expressions of support—thank you,” French wrote Tuesday evening after his name emerged in various reports.
