Betsey Johnson can’t be stopped. Try as you might to slow her down—or at least stop her from doing cartwheels—the frilly-punk designer is like a cat with nine lives (a leopard, naturally). What’s her latest venture? Johnson is revisiting the pieces that won her the affection of fashionistas of yesteryear, like Edie Sedgwick, in a new collaboration with Opening Ceremony. “It’s so primitive and pure and totally me,” Johnson said of the boutique. “Opening Ceremony wouldn’t let me change anything by a second.” The darker, edgier, “unique and special” pieces are designed with the recession in mind, and Johnson promises “you get a big bang for your little buck.” Out with the frilly prom dresses! Bring on the vintage.
