Beto O’Rourke Raises Astonishing $10.4 Million in a Single Quarter

Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), who is running for Senate against incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), said on Wednesday that his campaign raised $10.4 million during the second quarter of this year. As O’Rourke has vowed not to take corporate PAC money, the campaign also said that haul was from 215,714 contributions. “Something really special is happening in Texas and it’s the people in all 254 counties that we’ve visited making it possible one town hall, one volunteer shift, one $5 donation at a time,” O’Rourke said during a Facebook live video on Wednesday night. This number surpasses his fundraising total from last quarter, which stood at $6.7 million. His cash on hand total is over $14 million and he has outraised Cruz in the last four reporting periods. The reported total nearly matches the record for this cycle so far, posted by Rick Scott, Florida’s Republican governor who is now running for Senate.
