Ben Carson Out as Commencement Speaker

If only one of those Cs in CPAC stood for “commencement.” Conservative superstar Dr. Ben Carson announced Wednesday that he will step down as commencement speaker for Johns Hopkins University. The move comes one week after Dean Paul B. Rothman criticized Carson for comments about same-sex marriage. Carson, a pediatric surgeon, first zoomed onto the political radar when he gave a speech at CPAC last month criticizing Obamacare, and since then he has said that white liberals are the “most racist” people out there. Carson wrote a letter to Rothman saying he didn’t want to “distract from the celebratory nature of the day.” Hopkins insisted it was “purely Dr. Carson’s decision.”
