Bella Bond Prompts New Welfare Policies

The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families announced a new set of policies to help protect the lives of children after the recent death of 2-year-old Bella Bond. The DCF said Monday it will now institute criminal background checks on all parents accused of abuse or negligence, the biggest new piece of policy on the table. The department admitted to previously having contact with Bond's mother, Rachelle. The Boston Globe has called upon the DCF to update its strategies citing reporting on the case by The Daily Beast's Susan Zalkind.
